We Survived...

We survived the CRAZY flood of 2013!
On Thursday, September 12th at 9:30 we were evacuated from our shop since the St.Vrain River which is located only a couple blocks South of us was flooding and shutting down Main Street.
At 5:00 pm, Don made his way back down and took this picture of the shop...

The railroad tracks were completely flooded and the water was about 12" from the edge of our shop.
By Friday morning this was the view of our shop...
At this point the water had crept into the shop, but only about 1/2"...We are so lucky that the building is built-up, otherwise we would be in a much different situation right now!
However the vans and trailer are located in a parking lot that sits about 4 feet lower then the shop.
Those were submerged with the flood water up to the dashboards.
On Friday by 4:00 pm the water had receded about 12"...
On Saturday afternoon, Don was finally able to survey the damage and begin the clean up.
The entire property was covered in thick mud.  Random trash cans, tires, railroad crossing sign and debris lined the fences and the parking lot.  The shop and showroom were left with a thin layer of mud, but no other damage was done.
The air compressor which is located on the South side of the building also was submerged in the flood waters.  Not good when your whole shop operates off of it!
We were able to dry it out and get a repair guy over on Tuesday and it's now up and running!
So the shop is at full operation as of Thursday with no other damage done on the insides - except for a musty smell, but we'll take it!
The vans were the worst off - filling up with water and mud.
We are still in the process of cleaning them up and getting them running and it looks like they should all be fixable, which is a complete relief given they were submerged in the flood waters.  The engines were full of mud and debris and when Don finally got one up and running water, twigs and mud came flying out the front end...
We didn't realize how important those vans are to our operation...we have a ton of jobs ready to install, but no means of transporting them to the job sites...
Fingers crossed they make it back...quickly, so we can get back to taking care of our ever so patient customers!
The trailer acted like a boat when the flood waters came through and floated from its parking space to the middle of the parking lot.  It's amazing it didn't smash into one of the other vans and/or our neighbors house...causing even more damage!
With the amount of devastation that happened all around us, we came out very lucky.
We are so fortunate that we are "Back in Business" just one week after the flood started.
The outpour of support and concern from our past customers, contractors, sales reps and the Longmont Community has been amazing.  We had tons of phone calls and emails checking in to make sure we were ok and countless people stopped in asking to help in whatever way they could.
We are so thankful to be surrounded by such an amazing Community and are so thankful for all your support throughout the past week.
We do know many of our past and current customers were directly effected by this devastating flood and our thoughts and prayers are with you.  We wish you all a quick recovery...
For us all here at Don's Custom Cabinets...it's back to work!

Product Highlight: CaesarStone 2013

With an upswing of shades in white and gray, the request for white painted cabinetry and white marble countertops has been in high demand from our current customers.  As you scour the sites of Pinterest and Houzz you are overloaded with the pictures of just this - white painted cabinets with natural stone countertops in black, gray or white.  Marble for years has been the solution for wanting the natural element of something soft, clean and light, and although it is the pure definition of classic design it's natural characteristics make it one of the hardest countertop materials to maintain.  Marble is a very soft product and can easily be scratched, etched and stained.  Who wants to spend thousands of dollars on a beautiful countertop for their kitchen, but be afraid of setting down a simple can of coke and possibly damaging it?
Enter Caesarstone...
Caesarstone has launched the boldest line of marble inspired colors to date.  The new colors combine the sophisticated look of high-end marble with quartz durability.
Inspired by some of the world's most beautiful natural marble, Caesarstone's newest designs represent a unique blend of earthy tones and delicately infused veins.  The five new designs are...

London Grey: An eloquent opaque light grey with soft charcoal veins

Piatra Grey: Smooth slate grey with chalky white veins

Frosty Carrina: Beautiful soft ivory white with delicate powdery grey veins

Dreamy Marfil: A delicate blend of creamy beiges with gentle brown veins

Emperadoro: A rich fusion of lush, deep browns with maple colored veins

These new designs are all made using cutting-edge technology and are completely unique and exclusive to the Caesarstone brand.  The new colors have all the stain, scratch and water resistant qualities of quartz, making them ideal for kitchen countertops, backsplashes, vanity countertops, wall linings and furniture.  The possibilities are endless...
So now, you can achieve that classic look of marble and also have the ease of maintenance when choosing a quartz for your countertop surface.
